Easy wins for every day
- Narrate what you and the children are doing — "We're washing your hands, nice and warm."
- Use real words alongside gestures and sounds, and give children time to respond.
- Read board books made for babies and toddlers — not just colors, shapes, and letters.
- Sing, rhyme, and use fingerplays throughout transitions in the day.
- Follow the child's lead and talk about what they are interested in right now.
