Board Books for Babies That Match How They Actually Learn

You are anxious to hear them say their first words and you will be excited when they learn to read.

Did you know that YOU are the one in charge of when they will talk?

Did you know that your child will never be learning more language at a faster rate than they are at 9–10 months?

Did you know that the language your child learns by age three will largely determine how well your child will read?

This might seem like an overwhelming responsibility. The good news is it is really quite simple. Talk with your baby. Interact with your baby in ways that are fun for both of you. You can grow language pathways in your baby's brain with a few easy activities each day. Board books are one of the best tools for this — alongside a short list of other simple toys. See my guide to the best toys for language development for the rest of what I recommend.

I wrote a parent guide "Little Voices, Big Futures" to help new parents give their child the best start.

I wrote five board books for babies and toddlers out of frustration after seeing "Baby's First Books" being all about colors, shapes, numbers and the alphabet, as those are not developmentally appropriate (nor interesting) for babies.
