Throughout my 40 year career I was constantly asked "Can classroom teachers or paraprofessionals deliver this service?" The answer was always "I do not have enough time to train or supervise them". I always wished for simple but complete programming that would be enough to make a difference. So in my retirement, I have made it my mission to develop the materials I did not have time to design when I was trying to provide intervention to 175 students in five different schools.
Administrators — You can have what you wish for!
I have three main products for you to choose from.
Developing Natural Social Skills:
- this is an alternative to compliance training
- go back and develop the skills children with Autism have missed
- work on requesting/indicating using fun high value materials (included)
- work on looking at others
- easy, scripted activities
- paraprofessionals and parents can do this with ease
Tier II Language Intervention that is:
- structured
- scripted
- comprehensive
- easy for EAs and teachers to follow
- requires minimal training from you
- requires minimal support from you
- all materials are included
- daily data tracking is provided
Early Language including:
- comprehension
- vocabulary
- listening for sounds
- use of gestures
- reduplicated diminutives
- following simple directions
- early expression of words
- early grammar (2-word phrases)
While you will obviously still need to provide that very specialized programming for students with fluency, cleft palate, or severe motor issues, now you can feel confident about allowing teachers and educational assistants to provide some scripted complementary programming for students with social difficulties and tier II language delays.
